Spoken Indian languages, taught from English
Moved to a new city? Kaho na. Go on, say it.
Kahona teaches you to speak an Indian language for everyday life: greetings, shopping, work, travel and real conversations with the people around you. You start talking from the first lesson, not after a grammar textbook.
Ten languages. Works in your browser on phone or laptop. A Kris Konsulting offering.
Choose a language
Ten languages, one clear path
Every language follows the same journey, so once you know how Kahona works, the next language comes faster. Select a language to see what's inside.
How it works
Two courses, taken in order
Start with the speech you need on day one, then build real fluency step by step. Whole phrases come first; the rules follow once you're already talking.
First Conversations
- People: greetings, survival words, home, friends and the phone
- Out in the world: office, market, travel, bank and doctor
- Family, food and festivals: meals, sharing and home life
Speak Fluently
Greetings, where you are from, numbers, time, money and daily routine.
Asking for what you need, politely or firmly: places, requests and getting things done.
What happened, what you are doing now and what comes next, in ordinary speech.
Directions, describing people and places, and a capstone of real-life talk.
What every course includes
Built for how the language is really used
Every word in four forms
English meaning, Roman letters and Devanagari on every card, plus the language's own script where it isn't Devanagari.
Natural Indian voices
Female and male voices. Pick yours, and speaker-gender forms change where the language needs them.
Tap to hear
Every word, phrase and dialogue line plays on tap, with English narration guiding each screen.
Real conversations
Whole dialogues line by line, with respectful forms for elders and familiar forms for friends.
Eight kinds of practice
Dialogue, Fill the Gap, Listen and Choose, Match the Pairs, Translate, Quick Recall, Shadow-repeat and Smart Revision.
Shadow-repeat at three speeds
0.75x to settle the sounds, 1x for natural pace and 1.25x to stretch the ear.
Build your own sentences
Pick who, what and when from drop-downs and the sentence builds itself: dozens of combinations to read, hear and say.
Progress you can see
A Smart Revision scoreboard of what stuck and what needs another pass, with completion recorded for every module.
Who it's for
For anyone settling into a new place
People and families relocating
Moving to a city where a different language is spoken? Talk with neighbours, shopkeepers, drivers and new friends, and feel at home sooner.
Companies posting staff
Relocation and regional onboarding: staff start with First Conversations, then the full course. Kahona fits into your company's learning system with completion tracked.
Students on a new campus
Students and families arriving in a new language region settle into campus life and everyday talk around them.
Questions
Good to know
Do I need to read the script?
No. Every word is shown in Roman letters with its English meaning, alongside Devanagari and the language's own script. You can learn to speak first and pick up the script at your own pace.
Is this a grammar course?
No. Kahona is a spoken course. You learn whole phrases and conversations first; the patterns behind them come in small steps as you go.
What do I need to use it?
A phone, tablet or laptop with a browser. Turn the sound on: every word and line has audio.
Which language should I start with?
The one spoken where you live or are moving to. Each language follows the same 27-module path, so a second language is quicker once you know the system.
Is it a certification?
No. Kahona is for everyday conversation, not an exam. Each module records your completion so you can see your progress.
Can my company use it for staff?
Yes. Kahona can be added to your company's learning system with completion tracking. Get in touch for team licensing.
